This page is dedicated to my beloved friend and teacher, Walden Welch. He took me under his wing and pointed me squarely on my path toward becoming a professional astrologer. Caring for him in the final year of his life gave me some of my most valuable teachings and most precious moments. I miss you, Wally. Many have done excellently, but you exceed them all.

Walden Welch

Beloved Astrologer and Friend

December 30, 1943 - May 13, 2011

Walden began his astrological practice in San Francisco, California in 1962 at a young age, nineteen. In 1968, Walden relocated his office to Sonoma, California where he continued his work. Due to his many years in practice, his clientele has numbered in the thousands. Mr. Welch's career success had indeed been phenomenal. His exceptional reputation as an Astrologer is known worldwide for he is considered one of the most successful Astrologers in history.

Walden was born with his Sun in Capricorn, Virgo Rising and Moon in Pisces on December 30th, 1943 at 10:13 pm in Stockton, California, the only child of Arthur and Julia Welch. His father, who named him after his favorite book, "Walden Pond" by Thoreau, gave this unusual but appropriate name to him. Walden was born clairvoyant. His psychic abilities first manifested at the age of five. He spent his childhood and teenage years living between Stockton, Bakersfield, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California.

Unusually gifted as both Astrologer and clairvoyant, Walden was tutored under the guidance of several of the most outstanding and recognized metaphysicians of his day. He became the protégé of Astrologers Gavin Arthur of San Francisco and Elinor Melin of Los Angeles. His clairvoyant studies were under the training of Reverends Pearl Shannon, Florence Becker, Jack Dareos and Clara Pregger. At the age of twenty Walden became the youngest licensed certified Psychic Medium in the United States. He was a member of The Association for Research and Enlightenment from 1962 onwards. Walden credited the work and teachings of Edgar Cayce to be his greatest inspiration and influence.

In addition to his busy schedule, Walden's career included lecturing and frequent appearances on television and radio guest interview shows. San Francisco Bay audiences may remember him for his frequent appearances as a regular guest on KGO radio's "Owen Spann Show" and television's "A.M. San Francisco," as well as KNEW's "California Guys" hosted by Dee Merit, the highest rated talk show at the time in the state of California. In Los Angeles, Walden made several appearances on "The Merv Griffin Show" as well as "The Hillary Rose Program." He and psychic Betty Bethards frequently made joint appearances. In Sacramento, he appeared on several television stations including Channel 3's "Look Who's Talking" along with Sherry Bolling. For five years he hosted his own successful radio program, "Walden Welch, Astrologer," on KTIM in San Rafael as well as "Star Talk" in Santa Rosa.
